Description

These Asian chicken skewers are juicy, tender, and brushed with a sticky honey garlic sauce that’s sweet, savory, and slightly tangy. Perfect for grilling or baking, they make an easy weeknight dinner or a crowd-pleasing party appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken Skewers:

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Wooden or metal skewers

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Optional Garnish:

  • Chopped parsley or green onions
  • Sesame seeds
  • Crushed peanuts

Instructions

  1. Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 20 minutes if using bamboo. Preheat grill to medium-high or oven to 425°F.
  2. Thread chicken pieces evenly onto skewers, leaving small spaces between each piece.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk cornstarch with water. Add to the sauce and simmer 2–4 minutes until thick and glossy.
  6. Grill skewers for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, or bake for 12–15 minutes, flipping once.
  7. Brush generously with honey garlic sauce during the last few minutes of cooking.
  8. Let rest for 2–3 minutes. Garnish if desired and serve with extra sauce.

Notes

  • For extra caramelization, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end.
  • Chicken thighs can be used instead of chicken breast for juicier skewers.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Double the sauce if you like extra for dipping.
