Description

This Steak Pasta Salad is a hearty and flavorful pasta salad loaded with tender steak, crisp asparagus, smoky bacon, and freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano tossed in a creamy dressing. Perfect for summer cookouts, meal prep lunches, potlucks, or an easy family dinner, this satisfying salad delivers steakhouse-inspired flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz bite-sized pasta (fusilli, lumaconi, or shell pasta)
  • 1518 asparagus spears, chopped into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup cooked steak, well-seasoned and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • ½ cup cooked bacon, chopped
  • ⅓ cup shredded Parmigiano Reggiano
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Montreal steak seasoning (optional, if steak is not already seasoned)
  • Fresh cracked black pepper, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water. Set aside to cool and dry slightly.
  2. Steam the asparagus for 3–5 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Transfer to a plate and allow to cool completely.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, and apple cider vinegar. Add steak seasoning if needed.
  4. Place the cooled pasta in a large mixing bowl and toss with the dressing until evenly coated.
  5. Add the steak, bacon, asparagus, and Parmigiano Reggiano.
  6. Toss gently until everything is well combined.
  7. Garnish with freshly cracked black pepper and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Leftover grilled steak works perfectly in this recipe.
  • Allow the pasta to dry slightly after rinsing to prevent a watery dressing.
  • For extra flavor, chill the salad for 15–30 minutes before serving.
  • If your steak is already heavily seasoned, omit the additional steak seasoning.
  • Greek yogurt can be substituted for sour cream for a lighter version.
