Description

Mozzarella Garlic Butter Chicken Bowties in Cheesy Cream is the ultimate creamy comfort dinner. Tender seared chicken is tossed with bowtie pasta in a rich garlic butter sauce made with heavy cream, Parmesan, and melty mozzarella. This easy skillet recipe is perfect for busy weeknights but impressive enough for guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz bowtie pasta (farfalle)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 ½ pounds chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook bowtie pasta until al dente (8–10 minutes). Drain and set aside. Do not rinse.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken pieces and season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook 5–7 minutes until golden and fully cooked. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Simmer for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  5. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Return cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat.
  6. Add drained bowtie pasta and gently mix until fully coated in sauce.
  7. Sprinkle mozzarella evenly over the top. Cover and cook on low for 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted and gooey.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra creaminess, use freshly shredded mozzarella.
  • If sauce thickens too much, add a splash of chicken broth when reheating.
  • Chicken thighs can be substituted for chicken breast.
  • Add spinach, mushrooms, or steamed broccoli for extra veggies.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
