Ingredients

Scale

For the Shrimp

  • 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt

For the Sauce

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced or pureed
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or white wine)
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the shrimp with paprika, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes, flipping once, until pink and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. Reduce heat to medium and melt the butter in the same skillet. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth or white wine and simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly reduced.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the creamy sauce.
  8. Simmer on low heat for 2 minutes until heated through.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately with pasta, rice, or crusty bread.

Notes

  • Avoid overcooking the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan melts better and creates a smoother sauce.
  • Half-and-half can be substituted for a lighter version.
  • Add spinach, mushrooms, or sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor and texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
