Ingredients
Scale
For the Shrimp
- 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
For the Sauce
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced or pureed
- 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
- 1/2 cup chicken broth (or white wine)
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss the shrimp with paprika, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes, flipping once, until pink and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium and melt the butter in the same skillet. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth or white wine and simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly reduced.
- Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the creamy sauce.
- Simmer on low heat for 2 minutes until heated through.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately with pasta, rice, or crusty bread.
Notes
- Avoid overcooking the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
- Freshly grated Parmesan melts better and creates a smoother sauce.
- Half-and-half can be substituted for a lighter version.
- Add spinach, mushrooms, or sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor and texture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
