Description

These Christmas Pretzel Rods are a quick, festive, crowd-pleasing treat made with candy-coated pretzels and holiday sprinkles. Perfect for gifting, parties, cookie trays, and adding a gorgeous pop of Christmas color to your dessert table.

Ingredients

Pretzel Rods

  • Pretzel rods

  • Brown candy coating (milk chocolate chips or chocolate almond bark)

  • White candy coating (white chocolate morsels or vanilla almond bark)

  • Red candy coating

  • Green candy coating

Toppings

  • Confetti holly mix

  • Wilton holiday nonpareils

  • Wilton Christmas snowflake sprinkles

  • Crushed peppermint

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate:
Warm each candy coating in separate bowls according to package directions. Heat gently to avoid thickening. If chocolate becomes too thick, stir in 2 teaspoons of vegetable shortening. Do not add water.

  2. Dip the Pretzels:
Hold a pretzel rod and spoon melted chocolate over the top two-thirds. Shake lightly to remove excess. Add sprinkles immediately, rotating the pretzel so the toppings stick on all sides. Larger sprinkles may need to be placed individually.

  3. Let Them Rest:
Lay dipped pretzel rods on waxed paper or a cooling rack. Waxed paper works best for easy release.

  4. Add Decorative Drizzles:
Once the first layer has fully set, drizzle additional colors using a fork or spoon. Transfer the pretzels to clean waxed paper before the drizzle dries to keep lines tidy.

  5. Dry & Store:
Allow pretzel rods to dry completely. Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Avoid refrigeration to keep them crisp.

Notes

  • If using candy melts, add shortening only if needed for thinning.

  • These pretzel rods stay fresh for up to 2 weeks when stored in a cool, dry place.

  • Great for gifting—wrap in cellophane bags with ribbon.

  • Mix and match colors to match your holiday theme or party menu.
