Description

Cheddar Ranch Chicken Tater Tot Bake is an easy, cozy casserole made with shredded chicken, creamy ranch, melty cheddar, and crispy tater tots—perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie works great)

  • 1 cup ranch dressing

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 32 oz frozen tater tots (1 standard bag)

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 3 green onions, chopped (for topping)

Optional (if you want extra flavor):

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon bits

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, mix shredded chicken, ranch dressing, garlic powder, and onion powder until evenly coated.

  3. Spread the chicken mixture evenly in the bottom of the baking dish.

  4. Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the chicken.

  5. Sprinkle cheddar cheese evenly over the tater tots.

  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until tater tots are golden and crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  7. Rest for 5 minutes, then top with chopped green onions. Serve warm.

Notes

Extra crispy top: Broil for 1–2 minutes at the end (watch closely).

Make-ahead tip: Mix the chicken + ranch layer up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate. Add tots cheese right before baking.

Leftovers: Store in the fridge 3–4 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to keep the tots crisp.
