Description

Crispy on the outside and irresistibly gooey on the inside, Air Fried Babybel Cheese is the ultimate quick snack or party appetizer. Each mini cheese round is coated in seasoned panko breadcrumbs and air fried until golden and crunchy, creating the perfect contrast with the melty cheese center. Ready in minutes, these cheesy bites are perfect for dipping in marinara, ranch, or spicy aioli and are guaranteed to disappear fast at game nights, family gatherings, or cozy snack breaks.

Ingredients

  • 10 Babybel cheese rounds, unwrapped

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs, beaten

  • 1 tablespoon milk (optional)

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Olive oil spray

  • Chopped parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

1. Prepare the coating stations

Set up three shallow bowls. Place flour with a pinch of salt and pepper in the first bowl. Beat the eggs in the second bowl and add milk if needed to thin the mixture. In the third bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.

2. Bread the Babybel cheese

Pat the unwrapped cheese rounds dry with a paper towel. Dip each piece into the flour, then the egg mixture, and finally coat in the seasoned panko breadcrumbs. Press gently so the coating sticks well.

3. Double coat for extra crunch (optional)

For an extra crispy shell, dip the cheese again in the egg mixture and coat once more in breadcrumbs.

4. Freeze briefly

Place the breaded cheese rounds on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for 10–15 minutes. This step helps prevent the cheese from melting too quickly in the air fryer.

5. Preheat the air fryer

Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3–5 minutes. Lightly spray the basket with olive oil spray.

6. Air fry

Place the cheese rounds in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray the tops lightly with olive oil. Cook at 380°F for 5–7 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.

7. Serve

Remove carefully and let rest for 1–2 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Freezing the breaded cheese is important to prevent the cheese from melting too quickly.

Double coating helps keep the cheese sealed inside the crispy crust.

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket for best crispiness.

Best served immediately while the cheese is warm and melty.
