Description

These Tuna Melt Patties are crispy, cheesy, and packed with savory flavor. Made with pantry staples and ready in just 20 minutes, they’re the ultimate weeknight comfort food!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans canned tuna (5 oz each), drained

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon butter (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Drain the tuna: Press out as much liquid as possible using a strainer or spoon.

  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

  3. Add wet ingredients: Stir in the mayonnaise, egg, and Dijon mustard until fully incorporated.

  4. Fold in flavor: Add shredded cheddar cheese and green onions. Mix well until the texture is moist but not overly wet.

  5. Form patties: Divide the mixture into 4–5 equal portions. Shape into ½-inch thick patties.

  6. Optional chill: Refrigerate patties for 15–20 minutes to help them hold together better while frying.

  7. Cook: Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Flip gently.

  8. Optional cheesy finish: Add a slice of cheese on top during the last minute of cooking and cover until melted.

  9. Serve: Enjoy hot with your favorite sides, sauces, or sandwich toppings!

Notes

If the mixture feels too wet, add more breadcrumbs. If too dry, add a small splash of mayo or lemon juice.
These patties are great on buns, English muffins, or even over salad.
For a low-carb version, serve without bread or sub in almond flour for the breadcrumbs.
