Description

Slow Cooker Chicken Shawarma is a cozy, flavor-packed dinner made with tender shredded chicken and warm Middle Eastern spices. This easy hands-off recipe is perfect for busy weeknights, meal prep, or feeding a hungry family with minimal effort and maximum flavor.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs

  • 2 tbsp ground cumin

  • 2 tbsp paprika

  • 1 tbsp ground turmeric

  • 1 tbsp garlic powder

  • 1 tbsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ cup chicken broth

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • Fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and lettuce (for serving)

  • Pita bread or wraps (for serving)


Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix cumin, paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, onion powder, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper.

  2. Place chicken thighs in a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil.

  3. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the chicken, coating all sides.

  4. Transfer chicken to the slow cooker and pour in the chicken broth.

  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until tender.

  6. Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker using two forks and mix with the juices.

  7. Serve warm in pita bread or bowls with fresh vegetables and optional yogurt or garlic sauce.

Notes

Chicken breasts can be used, but thighs stay juicier.
For extra flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
Leftovers keep well for up to 3 days and taste even better the next day.
