This Pulled Beef Sandwich is pure comfort food bliss, featuring tender shredded beef slow-cooked with smoky spices and barbecue sauce, piled high on a soft bun with melty cheddar cheese. Perfect for busy weeknights, game day spreads, or whenever you crave a hearty, flavorful meal!
Ingredients
3–4 lbs beef chuck roast
1 large onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup beef broth
½ cup barbecue sauce (or your favorite sauce)
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
6–8 sandwich buns
Optional toppings: pickles, coleslaw, sliced onions
Optional: cheddar cheese slices
Instructions
Pat beef chuck roast dry. Season all sides with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and cumin.
Place sliced onion and minced garlic in the bottom of a slow cooker or Dutch oven.
Set beef on top of onions. Pour in beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar.
Cover and cook:
Slow Cooker: Low for 8-10 hours
Dutch Oven: 300°F (150°C) for 4-5 hours
Remove beef and shred with two forks.
Return shredded beef to cooking juices and stir to combine.
Toast buns if desired.
Pile shredded beef onto buns, top with cheese slices if using, and add any optional toppings.
Add the top bun, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
For extra flavor, sear the beef on all sides before slow cooking.
This recipe freezes well for up to 3 months.
