Description

This easy Pesto Chicken Bake is a comforting oven-baked dinner made with juicy chicken breasts, basil pesto, and melted mozzarella cheese. Perfect for busy weeknights when you want big flavor with minimal effort.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • ½ cup basil pesto

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • Salt, to taste

  • Black pepper, to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper.

  3. Arrange the chicken in a baking dish in a single layer.

  4. Spread basil pesto evenly over each chicken breast.

  5. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the pesto-coated chicken.

  6. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  7. Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

If your chicken breasts are thick, slice them in half lengthwise for even cooking.

Add cherry tomatoes or a sprinkle of Parmesan for extra flavor if desired.

Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
