Description

These Old Chicago’s Italian Nachos Copycat are a cheesy, crispy delight with layers of melted mozzarella and pepper jack cheese, savory Italian sausage, pepperoni, and a zesty kick from pepperoncini peppers. Perfect for a quick snack or an appetizer at your next gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 wonton wrappers, cut into triangles

  • 1 lb ground Italian pork sausage

  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni

  • 1/2 cup pepperoncini peppers or banana peppers

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese

  • 1/4 cup marinara sauce, for dipping

  • Vegetable or canola oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Wonton Chips:
Cut the wonton wrappers in half diagonally to form triangles. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Fry the wonton triangles for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove them and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

  2. Cook the Sausage:
In a skillet, cook the ground Italian sausage over medium heat for about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through.

  3. Assemble the Nachos:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Spread the crispy wonton chips evenly on a baking sheet or platter, allowing them to overlap slightly. Layer with pepper jack cheese, cooked Italian sausage, pepperoni, and pepperoncini peppers. Top with mozzarella cheese.

  4. Bake:
Place the assembled nachos in the oven and bake for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.

  5. Serve:
Remove from the oven and serve with marinara sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can substitute the pepperoni with other deli meats like salami for a different flavor.

  • To make it spicier, feel free to add some chili flakes or jalapeños.
