Description

Sweet, savory, and oven-roasted to perfection, these Maple Orange Glazed Chicken Quarters are juicy, sticky, and packed with citrus flavor. An easy, comforting dinner that feels special without extra effort.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2.2 lbs (1 kg) chicken leg quarters

  • 3 oranges, thinly sliced

  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme

Marinade

  • Juice of 2 oranges

  • ¼ cup olive oil

  • ½ cup pure maple syrup

  • ⅓ cup soy sauce or tamari

  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together orange juice, olive oil, maple syrup, soy sauce, and red chili flakes until smooth.

  2. Add chicken leg quarters and turn to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  3. Preheat oven to 390°F (200°C). Line a large baking pan with parchment paper.

  4. Arrange half of the orange slices on the pan. Place marinated chicken on top, skin side up.

  5. Pour remaining marinade over the chicken and scatter remaining orange slices and thyme around the pan.

  6. Loosely cover with damp parchment paper and bake for 1 hour.

  7. Remove cover, spoon pan juices over chicken, and bake uncovered for 15 minutes until golden and caramelized.

  8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Spoon glaze over the chicken and garnish with herbs.

Notes

For gluten-free, use tamari instead of soy sauce.

Use real maple syrup for best flavor and caramelization.

Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days.

Pairs beautifully with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a crisp winter salad.
