Description

These Jack O Lantern Quesadillas are a fun and festive Halloween treat that kids and adults will love! Whether you choose the sweet or savory version, they’re quick, customizable, and perfect for spooky season snacking or party platters.

Ingredients

Scale

Base:

  • 4 flour tortillas (or whole wheat/gluten-free)

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or blend)

Sweet Filling (optional):

  • ½ cup pumpkin purée

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon

Savory Add-Ins (optional):

  • ½ cup cooked chicken, shredded

  • ¼ cup black beans

  • ¼ cup chopped vegetables (bell pepper, onion, corn)

Sweet Add-Ins (optional):

  • 1 tbsp nut butter

  • 2 tbsp fruit preserves

  • 1 small banana, sliced

  • ¼ cup apple pie filling

Instructions

  1. Cut a jack-o’-lantern face into one tortilla per quesadilla using a sharp knife or kitchen scissors.

  2. On a separate whole tortilla, layer your chosen filling:

    • For savory, sprinkle shredded cheese evenly and add desired toppings.

    • For sweet, spread pumpkin purée, drizzle with honey, and sprinkle cinnamon. Add fruit or nut butter if desired.

  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Toast the face-cut tortilla for 2–3 minutes until lightly crisp. Remove and set aside.

  4. Add the filled tortilla to the skillet and toast for 2–3 minutes, until cheese melts or filling is warmed through.

  5. Place the face tortilla on top of the filled one. Let it toast another 1–2 minutes to seal. Do not flip.

  6. Slide onto a plate, slice, and serve warm with your favorite dips!

Notes

  • Use kitchen scissors to cut the face easily and safely.
Don’t overfill — too much filling can cause the quesadilla to fall apart.
Great with salsa, guacamole, maple syrup, or Greek yogurt for dipping!
You can make a batch ahead and reheat in a skillet for party prep.
