Description
Tender chicken breasts are pan-seared to golden perfection and simmered in a luscious Irish whiskey cream sauce with garlic, onion, and fresh herbs. This cozy, flavorful dish is perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions!
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup Irish whiskey (like Jameson)
1 cup heavy cream
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then cook 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion for 3–4 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Carefully pour in the Irish whiskey and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes, allowing the alcohol to cook off slightly.
Stir in the chicken broth, bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Add the heavy cream, stirring until well combined. Let the sauce simmer another 5 minutes to thicken slightly.
Return the chicken to the skillet, spoon the sauce over it, and simmer for 2–3 minutes more until warmed through.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with mashed potatoes or crusty bread. Enjoy!
Notes
Chicken thighs can be used instead of breasts for extra juiciness.
For a thicker sauce, simmer uncovered a few minutes longer.
Try adding mushrooms for an earthy twist.
Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days
