Description

These rich and creamy Homemade Peppermint Patties are the perfect cool, minty treat for the holidays. With a smooth peppermint center and a glossy chocolate shell, they’re easy to make, fun to decorate, and ideal for gifting or adding to holiday dessert trays.


Ingredients

  • 2¼ cups (280 g) powdered sugar, sifted

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 teaspoons peppermint extract

  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

  • 8 oz (225 g) semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped

  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)

  • Festive sprinkles or crushed candy canes (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar, softened butter, peppermint extract, and heavy cream. Mix until a smooth, slightly stiff dough forms.

  2. Scoop about 1 teaspoon of filling, roll it into a ball, and flatten into a disc. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  3. Freeze patties for 20 minutes to firm up.

  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate and vegetable oil in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.

  5. Dip each chilled peppermint disc into the chocolate using a fork. Shake off excess chocolate and place back on the tray.

  6. Add festive sprinkles or crushed candy canes if desired. Chill until the chocolate sets.

Notes

For a stronger mint flavor, add an extra ¼ teaspoon of peppermint extract.
If the dough feels too sticky, mix in 1–2 tablespoons more powdered sugar.
