Description

This spooky Halloween Salad is as fun to make as it is to eat! With mozzarella skulls, cherry tomatoes, and crisp greens, it’s the perfect creepy-but-delicious centerpiece for your Halloween party. Quick, festive, and packed with flavor — it’s a salad that even the ghosts will haunt your kitchen for!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz mozzarella balls (about 16 balls) or 1 large ball cut into cubes

  • 6 oz mixed salad greens

  • 1 pint sweet cherry tomatoes, halved

  • 3 tbsp fresh basil, thinly sliced

  • Olive oil (use a good quality finishing oil)

  • Balsamic glaze

  • Flaky sea salt

  • Freshly cracked black pepper

  • ½ lemon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Place one mozzarella ball in each skull mold. (Grease lightly with olive oil if you like.)

  3. Bake for about 6 minutes until soft but not melted.

  4. Remove from oven and press gently with the back of a spoon to fill mold details.

  5. Chill in the fridge for 10–15 minutes, then carefully pop out the mozzarella skulls.

  6. Assemble the salad: In a large bowl, toss greens with olive oil and lemon juice (optional).

  7. Top with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella skulls, and basil.

  8. Finish with more olive oil, balsamic glaze, flaky sea salt, and cracked pepper.

  9. Serve immediately and enjoy your frightfully fresh creation!

Notes

Make Ahead: Mozzarella skulls can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the fridge.
No skull molds? Try fun Halloween shapes like pumpkins or ghosts!
Add crunch: Sprinkle toasted pumpkin seeds or crispy bacon bits for extra flavor.
Imperfect skulls still taste perfect — embrace the spooky charm!
