  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter with olive oil. Add the onions, sugar, and balsamic vinegar. Cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir to combine. Gradually add beef broth, stirring continuously. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
  • Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and thyme. Place them in a baking dish.
  • Pour the onion and sauce mixture over the chicken.
