Description

This Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy is the ultimate comfort food—juicy chicken slow-cooked in a rich, homemade gravy that’s packed with flavor. It’s an easy, fuss-free dinner the whole family will love, and it only takes 15 minutes of prep!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 2 tsp cornstarch

  • 2 cups reduced sodium chicken broth

  • 1 ½ tsp chicken bouillon (or 1 ½ crushed cubes)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp dried thyme

  • ½ tsp dried oregano

  • ½ tsp dried parsley

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season Chicken: Drizzle olive oil over chicken breasts and rub with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Place into the Crock Pot.

  2. Make Gravy: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 2 minutes. Slowly add chicken broth (reserving ¼ cup), whisking to prevent lumps.

  3. Mix cornstarch into the reserved broth until smooth, then add to saucepan. Stir in bouillon and dried herbs. Simmer until thickened.

  4. Cook: Pour the gravy over the chicken. Cover and cook on high for 4–5 hours or low for 6–8 hours.

  5. Shred Chicken: Once tender, shred chicken with two forks directly in the Crock Pot. Stir into the gravy.

  6. Let it cook uncovered for another 30 minutes to absorb the flavor.

Notes

Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for extra tenderness.
Gravy will thicken as it cools—perfect over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
Make it gluten-free by using a 1:1 GF flour substitute.
