Description

Creamy, cheesy, and loaded with flavor, these Chicken Alfredo Sloppy Joes are the ultimate comfort food mash-up! Made with shredded chicken, a rich homemade Alfredo sauce, and served on toasted sandwich buns—this recipe comes together in just 30 minutes and is perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken Alfredo Filling:

  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works great)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

For the Sandwiches:

  • 4 sandwich buns (brioche or soft rolls work great)

  • Extra Parmesan cheese for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sauté Aromatics:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.

  2. Add Liquids:
Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth. Stir and bring to a simmer. Let cook for 5 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly.

  3. Melt the Cheese:
Reduce heat to low and stir in Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses until fully melted. Add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste.

  4. Mix in Chicken:
Add shredded chicken to the skillet and stir to coat evenly in the Alfredo sauce. Simmer for another 2–3 minutes until heated through.

  5. Toast Buns & Assemble:
Lightly toast sandwich buns. Spoon generous portions of the creamy chicken filling onto the bottom halves. Top with extra Parmesan and parsley if desired.

  6. Serve:
Add the top bun, serve warm, and enjoy with a side of fries, salad, or garlic bread.

Notes

Shortcut Tip: Store-bought Alfredo sauce works in a pinch—just doctor it up with extra garlic and cheese.
Make Ahead: You can make the filling ahead and store it in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before serving.
Low-Carb Option: Skip the bun and serve the filling over zucchini noodles or in a baked bell pepper.
