Description

This Cheesy Christmas Tree Bread is a show-stopping holiday appetizer made with golden pull-apart rolls stuffed with gooey mozzarella, brushed with garlicky herb butter, and baked to perfection. Fun to make, festive to serve, and guaranteed to disappear fast at every holiday gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 13 oz canned refrigerator pizza dough

  • Parchment paper (for lining baking sheet)

  • 67 mozzarella cheese sticks

  • 1 large egg + 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)

  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese, divided

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped

  • ½ tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped

  • ½ tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped

  • 1 clove garlic, grated

  • 1 jar marinara and/or pesto (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Cut the pizza dough into 30 small squares. Slice mozzarella sticks into 1-inch pieces.

  3. Place a cheese piece in the center of each dough square, fold the dough over, and roll it into a sealed ball.

  4. Arrange the balls seam-side down on the baking sheet in the shape of a Christmas tree.

  5. Whisk the egg and water together, then brush the egg wash lightly over each dough ball.

  6. Bake for 16–18 minutes, or until golden brown.

  7. While baking, melt the butter and stir in half the parmesan, garlic, parsley, rosemary, and basil.

  8. Brush the warm rolls with the herb butter mixture, then sprinkle with remaining parmesan.

  9. Serve immediately with marinara or pesto for dipping and enjoy the cheesy pull-apart goodness!

Notes

  • You can make the dough balls a few hours ahead and refrigerate them until baking.
For a fun presentation, top your “tree” with a star-shaped piece of yellow bell pepper or cheese.
Don’t skip the egg wash—it gives the bread that perfect golden color!
Serve warm for the best cheese pull experience.
